FCC Industrial’s Systems Department launches OPTIPORT

The FCC Industrial-PROES joint venture has developed a port activity simulation application in close collaboration with the Bay of Algeciras Port Authority. Based on probabilistic methods, the application supports decision-taking relating to the management and planning of the port and its resources.

FCC Industrial’s Systems Department launches OPTIPORT

The OPTIPORT system was developed jointly by FCC Industrial and the company PROES. Both companies have created a reliable, robust and fast software which, through the integral simulation of port activity, supports port managers in taking decisions relating to the management and planning of ports and their resources.

The system is based on a method that models the operation of the elements necessary to simulate ship traffic in port waters and installations by considering the ship and its immediate surroundings. These include: the entry channel, the areas for navigation, manoeuvring and anchoring and the ship-port interface where the loading and unloading of goods are carried out. The simulation is influenced by the type of terminal and the land operations.
The software can simulate both ship traffic and the services offered by the port and the impact of the weather on them.

FCC Industrial has more than 25 years’ experience in information technology, designing, engineering and developing systems to offer a wide set of solutions in the industrial, transport, defence and infrastructures sectors.
