FCC Industrial has been classified as a finalist in the prestigious NCE (New Civil Engineer) awards, in the Innovation Operator category, with its Optiport innovation project. Next March 23rd, the project will be defended before a committee of experts, with the aim of being winners of the prize.

This project was developed in collaboration with the area of technological development of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (Cádiz), and consists of a simulation application of port activity based on probabilistic methods for support in decision making related to the management and planning of the port and its resources.

OPTIPORT is a tool, developed jointly by FCC Industrial and the company PROES. Both companies have created a reliable, robust and agile software that, by means of the integral simulation of the port activity, serves as support to the port managers in the decision making related to the management and planning of ports and their resources.

The tool, developed is based on a methodology that models the operation of the necessary elements to simulate the traffic of ships in waters and port facilities. For this purpose, the ship and its immediate surroundings are considered, that is, the access channel, the navigation, maneuvering and anchoring areas and the ship-port interface, where cargo loading and unloading operations are carried out, influenced by the typology of the terminal and the operative in the terrestrial zone. The software tool allows you to simulate both vessel traffic and the services offered by the port and the influence that climatic conditions have on them.
