FCC Industrial wins the NATO TOPFAS-BMD contract

FCC Industrial has been awarded the TOPFAS-BMD contract from the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency).

The purpose of the contract is the acquisition of a new and improved TOPFAS application package, which includes the necessary functionalities to support the expansion of the capabilities of the ballistic missile defense (BMD) program. It has a budget of more than 17 million euros and an execution period of 51 months. 

TOPFAS is NATO's modern IT application suite, consisting of a set of integrated applications and services, developed in support of NATO's crisis response process. The new TOPFAS suite of applications will be deployed across NATO operational networks and testbeds and will be implemented across the NATO Command Structure (NCS).

The main works will be organized into two work packages (WP1 and WP2) and in addition, an optional work package (WP3) has been defined to provide the maintenance and support services provided by FCC Industrial.

FCC Industrial will be responsible for carrying out the analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of this new and improved TOPFAS Application Suite. The scope of work includes optional services for the delivery of training and additional deployments of the TOPFAS application package.
FCC Industrial has successfully deployed several versions of the TOPFAS application suite in the different environments of the strategic and operational components, as well as in NATO reference and test environments.

The NCI Agency is NATO’s technology and cyber hub, composed by a team of over 3000 civilian and military experts working together throughout 29 locations in Europe and North America to connect all corners of NATO and maintain its edge. The Agency leverages its partnership with industry, to provide innovative capabilities and services, enabling NATO to fulfill its core tasks of consultation, collective defence and crisis management.

FCC Industrial offers solutions of high technological value applied to multiple sectors, and the Systems division is specialized in the development and implementation of ICT systems in the areas of: defense, traffic, security and infrastructure. In October 2006, FCC Industrial signed the first contract with the NCIA (formerly NC3A) for the industrialization of its Operations Planning tool.

Since that date FCC Industrial has participated in the development of the evolution towards the set of applications that today make up the TOPFAS suite.
