FCC Industrial participates in the XVI Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems
FCC Industrial participated in the XVI Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems held in Madrid from 17th to 19th May, which brought numerous specialists in the development, manufacture, installation and integration of intelligent traffic systems and transportation together under one roof.
Intelligent Transport Systems have been consolidating year after year as one of the essential tools to meet the challenges that the world of transport and mobility faces in the 21st century.
FCC Industrial participated with a presentation entitled “Innovation and Application of High Definition Video Technology in ITS Projects”. The presentation highlighted innovations in video subsystems that are being implemented in the technological renovation project for the ER-1 Regional Highway in Madeira (Portugal) for Concession holder Vialitoral. The ER-1 is a complex dual-carriageway stretching over 50 kilometres through 30 tunnels and over multiple viaducts along the southern coast of the island of Madeira.
The technological renovation of the highway’s ITS systems provides an opportunity to install the most advanced technology in traffic management and mobility on it. The 10 longest tunnels (length >1000 m) have been equipped with an advanced automatic incident detection system based on analysis of high-resolution images by artificial vision.
Finally, FCC Industrial has introduced a sub-system that counts and classifies vehicles, which is an important tool to be able to assess the highway’s capacity. FCC Industrial stands at the forefront of traffic management.
FCC Industrial is committed to innovation, specialising in the design, engineering and development of advanced control systems applied to vehicle traffic and transport, security and emergencies, in both the military and civilian world.
