FCC Industrial participates in the construction of Spain's first self-sustainable shopping centre

FCC Industrial is participating in the construction of Spain's first self-sustainable shopping centre, La Gran Manzana (Canary Islands). This large complex is conceived as the first centre of its kind in Spain designed to operate in a self-sustainable manner, so that the infrastructure will be able to cover its own energy and water needs. It is also equipped with a system that allows it to disconnect from the electricity grid in the event of a power outage, ensuring autonomous operation in emergency situations.
The centre's complex energy infrastructure has a 1,100 kW nominal power photovoltaic system, reinforced by 3 MW of energy storage and 5.4 MWh of capacity, allowing for flexible energy management. Another notable innovation is the energy vectorisation system, which uses cooling machines to condense moisture from the air and convert it into drinking water.
This mechanism not only increases the centre's self-sufficiency, but also introduces an additional water resource in an environment where efficiency is key.
The infrastructure will have four floors, two dedicated to the commercial area and two to car parks, with more than 1,000 spaces and 50 electric chargers. One of the objectives of creating these points is to attract rental cars from Tenerife South Airport, located less than 10 kilometres away.
FCC Industrial is positioned as a leading company in the domestic market in energy efficiency and saving solutions, making facilities more sustainable.
