FCC Industrial wins the signalling installation contract for the Murcia-Almeria high-speed line

FCC Industrial has won the signalling installation contract for the Murcia-Almería high-speed line. The contract is worth 214 million euro and includes the installation of the most modern signalling systems on the high-speed line between Madrid and Almería. The contract will equip the new 200-km line and the Pulpí-Águilas branch with state-of-the-art equipment to manage train traffic remotely and in real time.

Specifically, the works have been contracted to deploy the most advanced signalling and traffic management system in the world, the ERTMS-2, giving a decisive boost to the development of this high-speed line. This train control and command system, in which Spain is the European leader, will be installed, along with the rest of the associated equipment: interlockings (systems that remotely regulate signals), train protection systems, auxiliary systems for detecting possible falling obstacles on the track, centralised traffic control (CTC) and telecommunications for railway operations.

The contract has been awarded to FCC Industrial together with CAF Signalling and Revenga Ingenieros, and it also includes the maintenance of all the systems and equipment for four years.

At present, all the platform sections of the Murcia-Almería line are completed or under construction, and the first electrification work is already underway, while progress is being made on the projects to lay the tracks.

The new HS will integrate Almería into the high-speed network, through the Corredor a Levante, the Mediterranean Corridor and the European networks, favouring the structuring and cohesion of territories.
