FCC Industrial is awarded the LEED Platinum certification for the works on the TIER IV Data Processing Centre in Murcia
FCC Industrial was awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum certification for the TIER IV Data Processing Centre, built in Murcia (Spain) for Informática de El Corte Inglés and Kio Networks.
This award signals a clear commitment to the sustainability and energy efficiency of buildings, not only in their construction but also in their opening and subsequent use. The fact that the inaugurated complex is the first building that has been certified under the LEED Platinum category is proof of such commitment. From the project stage, this voluntary certification included aspects relating to energy efficiency, alternative energy usage, better internal environment quality, water consumption efficiency and sustainable material selection.
The works involved the construction of one main building with two bodies, an auxiliary building, and installations and services for proper operation of the building.
The TIER IV Processing Centre has 99.995% accessibility, which means that there are only 26 minutes of the year when access is not guaranteed, thereby making it one of the most secure buildings in so far as data processing is concerned. The facilities have a modular design and a cooling system in the IT suites to ensure maximum energy saving.
The works had an implementation budget of €3 million euros and finished in a record completion time of six months.
