As part of the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCWC) 2026, FCC Industrial presented its role in the digital transformation and sustainability of major urban infrastructure during its technical presentation at the Madrid City Council’s stand.
The company’s presentation took place as part of the activities organised by the Lot 3 Joint Venture (AC Tunnels, Galleries and Fountains), a strategic alliance comprising Serveo, FCC Industrial and Tunelia, which has been awarded the contract for the comprehensive management and maintenance of these key infrastructures for the capital.
Innovation and digitalisation applied to Madrid’s key infrastructures
During the presentation held at the municipal stand, FCC Industrial’s technical managers outlined the main new developments and technological advances to be implemented throughout this new contract. Key priorities presented included sensor installation and real-time monitoring, as well as advanced sensor technology for the continuous monitoring of traffic, air quality and operational safety in tunnels and service galleries. Predictive maintenance through data analytics, centralised and digitalised control of the network of ornamental fountains and hydraulic infrastructure to maximise energy efficiency and optimise water consumption. Digital twins and smart management, integration of new IT platforms to anticipate incidents and speed up response times in the city’s underground networks.
Through this involvement, FCC Industrial reaffirms its leading role in establishing Madrid as an international benchmark for the Smart City model, equipping the city with cutting-edge tools for the efficient and sustainable management of its essential urban services.
