FCC Industrial has carried out the "Project for urgent actions to repair the Fuente Álamo pumping station", located in the municipality of Torre Pacheco, Murcia.

In 2018, a fortuitous fire caused serious damage to the electrical substation from which the Fuente Álamo pumping station is fed. This pumping station is essential for the supply of irrigation flows to the Community of Irrigators of Campo de Cartagena.

The Fuente Álamo pumping station enables the irrigation of 5,140 hectares located in the municipal areas of Fuente Álamo and Murcia. The water is captured from the Canal de Cartagena del Postrasvase Tajo-Segura and is raised to a geometric height of 90 meters, up to the regulation ponds of the Community of Irrigators of Campo de Cartagena. The high annual average volume is, on average, 12 cubic hectometres.

The action carried out by FCC Industrial has consisted, fundamentally, in the comprehensive reform of the electrical substation, the comprehensive adaptation of the hydraulic and electromechanical elements of the pumping building and the implementation of the systems for the operation, control and surveillance of the facilities. .

Thanks to this work carried out by FCC Industrial for the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, it will be possible to continue supplying the Irrigation Community of Campo de Cartagena with water from the Tajo-Segura Transfer and other resources, such as desalinated water and treated water. This will enable an increase in agricultural production and will mean a growth in jobs derived from this sector, vital for the economy of the Region of Murcia.
